About our Pilates teacher training program
Somaspace serves as the Austin host studio for New York’s Real Pilates Teacher Training®, founded by Alycea Ungaro, a second-generation teacher trained directly by Romana Kryzanowska, protégé of Joseph Pilates.
Director Amanda Vernor is both a Romana’s Pilates–certified instructor and a Real Pilates graduate, offering Austin trainees unmatched access to the authentic Classical system and its complete methodology.
This 30-week, 600+ hour certification follows the original levels-based system exactly as Romana designed it — from beginner through advanced — across every piece of studio apparatus.
Apprentices learn to teach on every piece of studio apparatus, gaining a complete understanding of how the method works as an integrated system. Plus, you’ll have structured coursework in anatomy and teaching skills, how to address special populations and common injuries, and how to establish yourself as a professional Pilates instructor.
Upon graduation, you’ll earn the title of Third-Generation Classical Pilates Teacher, joining an international network of Real Pilates alumni dedicated to preserving the integrity and depth of the original method.

$5,750 tuition + $4,200 apprenticeship = $9,950
A 30-week professional certification presented through both practical and academic tracks. Over four seminar weekends and guided study, you’ll learn the complete Classical Pilates system on all apparatus while gaining an academic foundation in anatomy, teaching methodology, and professional practice.
Bridge / Graduate Program,
450+ hours
$4,500 tuition + $4,200 apprenticeship = $8,700
You’ll study all four seminar weekends, complete 450+ hours of coursework, and graduate as a Third-Generation Classical Pilates Teacher in the Romana Kryzanowska lineage.
Somaspace offers work-study and financial assistance opportunities for qualifying apprentices.

Enrollment is limited to six apprentices per cycle to maintain the integrity and individualized attention that professional education requires.
