Classical Pilates Teacher Training
Authentic Pilates certification with a direct, verifiable lineage
Teaching Pilates is deeply rewarding work.
Helping people move with strength, control and confidence, and watching their transformation unfold through the Classical system, is among the most gratifying experiences a teacher can have.
At Somaspace, we invite you to begin that journey: one built on precision, purpose, and integrity.
Unlike programs that draw loosely from Joseph Pilates’ work, our training follows the original method as it was preserved and passed down through Romana Kryzanowska and Alycea Ungaro.
You won’t just study Pilates. You’ll learn the system exactly as it was designed to be taught.
About our Pilates teacher training program
Somaspace serves as the Austin host studio for New York’s Real Pilates Teacher Training®, founded by Alycea Ungaro, a second-generation teacher trained directly by Romana Kryzanowska, protégé of Joseph Pilates.
Director Amanda Vernor is dual-certified in the lineage of Romana Kryzanowska through Romana’s Pilates® and Real Pilates®, offering apprentices unmatched access to the authentic Classical system and its complete methodology.
Our lineage-based training ensures you’ll receive the depth and rigor of education that every Pilates teacher should have: a complete Classical education that most instructors spend years searching for.
This 600+ hour certification follows the original levels-based system exactly as Romana designed it across all studio apparatus. This approach ensures the method is studied and understood as a complete, integrated system of movement, rather than a contemporary, equipment-by-equipment interpretation.
Apprentices learn to teach on every piece of studio apparatus, gaining a complete understanding of how the method works as an integrated system. Plus, you’ll have structured coursework in anatomy and teaching skills, how to address special populations and common injuries, and how to establish yourself as a professional Pilates instructor.
Upon graduation, you’ll earn the title of Third-Generation Classical Pilates Teacher, joining an international network of Real Pilates alumni dedicated to preserving the integrity and depth of the original method.
