Amanda Vernor
GYROKINESIS® Master Trainer
GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Pre-Trainer
Romana’s Pilates® Instructor
Real Pilates® Instructor
Yoga Instructor
Founder & OwnerAmanda is the founder and owner of Somaspace. She works privately with adult clients, athletes and professional dancers. She also teaches education courses within the GYROTONIC® and Pilates communities.
Amanda began her teaching career in 2002 and has since achieved specialized training in scoliosis, neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson’s and stroke, plus post-rehab care for breast cancer and joint replacements.
Her commitment to the GYROTONIC® method stems from her own healing journey with spinal stenosis and disc herniation. The process required trusting the method long before the results were certain, and that leap of faith became the foundation of her practice.
She is honored to share this method with her clients and provide them with a systematic path toward deep internal strength and agility.

Amelia Bachofen
Real Pilates® Instructor
Licensed GYROTONIC® InstructorAmelia's introduction to Pilates began as a student of dance at Texas Christian University.
Pairing her dance practice with Pilates grew her confidence and functional strength, helping her to heal from acute injuries sustained as a dancer. It also helped her recover from a negative body image after years of valuing aesthetics over longevity.
As a dancer and teacher, Amelia leans into her instinct. She believes that every body is capable and meant to be in motion. Amelia’s aim in teaching is to facilitate people feeling free to move and learn, that their daily lives are filled with greater ease in body and mind.
Outside of the studio, Amelia enjoys spending time with her fiancé, dancing, and finding new ways to test her crock pot.

She has had the privilege of teaching dance at El Paso Community College, University of Texas at El Paso, New Mexico State University, and the University of Colorado Boulder.

Alexandra Manley
Real Pilates® Instructor
Apprentice GYROTONIC® InstructorAlexandra has worked most of her adult life as a chef and baker, and she is an owner/partner in Austin’s Swedish Hill Bakery.
Her movement journey began with Yoga teacher training in 1997. Many years later, she sought out Pilates to help rehabilitate from neck and shoulder issues related to restaurant kitchen work.
While her initial exposure to Pilates was in a contemporary studio setting, she was eventually exposed to Classical Pilates, and she fell in love with its repertoire, legacy and precision.
Alex became a 3rd generation Classical Pilates Instructor in 2023 and is delighted to share the healing potential of this work with her clients. She is also an apprentice trainer in the GYROTONIC® method.
Outside the studio, Alex practices herbalism and specializes in the bio-regional plants of Texas and the Southwest.

Elle Brandmeyer
Romana’s Pilates® Instructor
Elle completed her 600-hour Romana's Pilates® apprenticeship in 2021 under mentor Trish Garland, who has been teaching for over 40 years.
Before Pilates, Elle practiced law, passing the New York and New Jersey bar exams in 2012 and building a legal career that took her from New York to Los Angeles. She came to Pilates during those years and fell in love with what it brought to her body: a sense of lightness and levity she hadn't found with other fitness modalities.
The decision to leave law was a deliberate one. She wanted a life with more flexibility and presence, and wanted to share the experience of feeling capable and at ease in her body. Teaching Pilates proved the ideal career change.
Elle works one-on-one with clients and finds deep satisfaction in watching strength and mobility develop over time.
She moved to Austin in late 2022 and joined the Somaspace team shortly after.

Lauren Hack
Romana’s Pilates® Instructor
Lauren came to movement early, dancing from age three through high school and spending years in gymnastics, before life intervened. Engineering school pulled her away from her body entirely, and by the time she graduated she felt the gap acutely.
Her return to exercise led her to Pilates, but it took a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis in 2019 to make the practice non-negotiable. At her worst, the RA was affecting the majority of her joints. She found Amanda at Somaspace in January 2020 and committed fully.
Within months, Lauren’s flares had decreased significantly and her inflammatory markers began to drop. Her rheumatologist, pleased enough to encourage her to keep going, has since documented zero permanent joint damage — an outcome she attributes directly to the consistency and integrity of the Classical method.
Lauren brings that firsthand knowledge of what this work can do into every session she teaches.
-
Lara Fares
Real Pilates® Instructor
Lara came to Pilates with chronic lower back issues and persistent neck and shoulder tension that other movement practices hadn't resolved.
Classical Pilates proved different. The relief was significant enough that it reoriented her relationship to movement entirely, and eventually led her to train as an instructor.
Prior to becoming a Pilates instructor, Lara spent twenty years as a co-owner and operator of a retail business. She also holds a certification as a Special Aid Assistant Teacher, with coursework that informs how she works with clients who have diverse physical needs and learning styles.
Her background in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Nonviolent Communication is present in her studio sessions and how she communicates with clients: precise and attentive .
Lara is fluent in English, French, and Arabic. Outside the studio, she hikes, swims and cooks with the same intentionality she brings to teaching. She is a proud mother of three.
