Somaspace offers instruction in Classical Pilates, honoring the original work designed by Joseph Pilates.

Pilates is often first experienced as a mat workout, but authentic Pilates also incorporates equipment-based exercises on the reformer, cadillac, chair, barrels and several smaller apparatus. Joe designed and built this equipment to provide support for various exercises, and left us with classical repertoires for taking full advantage of each piece.

My studio features Gratz apparatus, which is built based on Joe’s original designs.

Regular practice of Pilates can:
Increase strength and muscle tone without adding bulk
Build endurance and stamina
Improve body alignment, flexibility and posture
Address muscular imbalances that lead to chronic pain
