Amanda combines more than 15 years of study in Yoga, Pilates, the Gyrotonic exercise method, and wellness into a holistic, whole-body health approach.
She has studied Yoga since 1996, earning a teaching certificate under Diana Beardsley at the Center for Yoga in Los Angeles in 2003. Her yoga training also includes extensive study with Kimberly Flynn and Noah Williams, and also Chuck Miller.
In 2004, she began taking classical Pilates sessions as a compliment to her Yoga practice. She has since earned a comprehensive teaching certificate through Karen Sanzo, and continues to enjoy a weekly session with her mentor, Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle. In 2010, she completed advanced training as a Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates Trainer and as a Pilates-based Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist.
In 2012, Amanda began training for Level 1 certification in the GYROTONIC® exercise method.
It is interesting to note that Pilates and Gyrotonic are considered “lifestyles” by the men who developed them, and how Yoga is a complete system on its own. This whole-body, whole-life approach is a distinction of Amanda’s teaching style. Since 2003, she has studied the Macrobiotic lifestyle, herbalism, homeopathics, and Ayurveda as compliments to movement, and she shares this aspect of wellness as part of her Holistic Wellness Program.
Amanda is PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher and a board supporter of the Central Texas Pilates Alliance. She opened Somaspace in 2009.
